Suspicious Package on Train

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) – The MTA cleared train passengers off of a train Monday morning because a suspicious package was spotted on the train.

It happened on the 4:05 a.m. New Haven train that was heading to Grand Central Station. Metro-North officials moved about 250 passengers off of that train and over to the 4:37 a.m. train.  The 4:37 a.m. train already had about 250 passengers, so it was a packed commute. The train skipped stops in Fairfield and Southport to make better time.

In the meantime, the MTA used a K-9 unit to sniff out the package to see if there were any explosives inside. It was ultimately determined that there were no explosives inside, and the area was clear.

Officials are reminding passengers to say something if you see something suspicious.
