NEW YORK (WTNH) — After a massive four-alarm fire at a local business at 118th Street under Metro-North Railroad’s Park Avenue Viaduct in New York City, limited train service is being operated into and out of Grand Central Terminal through at least Saturday, MTA officials tell News 8.

According to Metro-North officials, crews worked throughout Tuesday night and made repairs to the structure, and restored two of the four tracks for the Wednesday morning rush hour. Crews inspected all elements, including the supports, track, power and signal, and ran test trains to ensure safety.

Metro-North crews are continuing to make repairs to the tracks, which requires two of the four tracks within the viaduct to be out of service. Trains are safely operating on the outer two tracks at reduced speeds through the area.

Metro-North confirms all three lines of the railroad will remain on an enhanced Saturday schedule until further notice. Connecticut commuters should expect delays and extremely crowded conditions on the existing trains. Metro-North is encouraging regular riders to work from home if at all possible, or find alternate travel plans.
