New Haven releases summer calendar

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — With summer just around the corner, that means towns and cities are gearing up for summer events.

Wednesday New Haven Mayor Toni Harp announced some of the lineup planned for this summer. 63 days of events will happen in the Elm City in hopes of drawing in folks from around the state and the Northeast area.

“There are several new additions to the summer schedule. The first ever New Haven Dragon Boat Regatta on Long Wharf. Slide the City, a giant slide on Prospect Street, and Opera Pilloza, an evening of Opera Arias on the New Haven Green,” said Mayor Harp.

Events will also include the International Festival of Arts and Idea, free movies screened at local parks, July 4th fireworks, the New Haven Jazz Festival, the Closer to Free Ride, and the Connecticut Open.
