Off-duty Shelton cop chases down purse snatcher

SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) – An off-duty Shelton police officer was in the right place at the right time Wednesday, and was able to chase down a man accused of stealing a 70 year old woman’s purse.  Officer Nicholas Ardizzone was pulling into the Walmart parking lot on Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton.  He saw an elderly woman chasing a man who was carrying a purse through the lot.  The man jumped into a black SUV, and Officer Ardizzone followed.  Eventually the man jumped out of the SUV and took off on foot. Ardizzone followed and caught up with Shane Kral, 26, o Trumbull in the woods.

The 70 year old woman told police that Kral hunched down behind her car as she parked, then grabbed her purse and took off.  Kral is facing a list of charges including Robbery.  Police say he was also carrying heroin.
