In the Bender Kitchen: Pairing Fat Gaucho Wines with Portofino’s Dishes


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – In the Bender Kitchen Portofino’s owner Alphonse Delucia pairs some of the most delicious dishes with Fat Gaucho wines.

Fat Gaucho is a New Haven based company but the vineyard is in Mendoza Argentina.  The wines are served at a many exclusive locations in CT, including Portofino’s Restaurant in New Haven.

Food Pairings:

  • Torrontes Reserva 2012 paired with a Portofino dish Chilean sea bass over spinach with a balsamic reduction
  • Malbec Reserva 2011 Panne Cotto Escarole & Beans with pancetta over Italian Bread
  • Cabernet Reserva Sunday sauce with Braciole, meatballs and homemade sausage with Italian herbs and parmesan over rigatoni.
  • New Malbec Reserva 2013 Paired with Rib eye Contazino Grilled rib eye steak with sautéed onions, mushrooms, various peppers and homemade sliced potatoes in a olive oil and garlic sauce.
