Manchester man’s disabled car leads to drug charges

GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Glastonbury police pulled over to assist a driver and his disabled car, only to discover the distinct smell of marijuana, and subsequently make an arrest.

Just after 3 a.m. on Monday morning, Glastonbury police received word of a man standing in the roadway on Main Street, attempting to flag down passing cars. On arrival, officers encountered Juan A. Vasquez, Jr., 34, of School Street in Manchester, and determined his car was disabled.

Responding officers also detected the odor of marijuana coming from Vazquez’s car and, moving to search it, discovered cannabis as well as cocaine. Vazquez was charged with two counts of possession, was processed, released, and is scheduled to appear in court.
