Clinton, Conn. (WTNH)- Members of the Clinton police department have changed their look, moving away from the traditional blue uniform and style eight point hats favored by most departments.

The change was inspired by the town’s new police chief  Vincent Bauer and it received the unanimous approval of the police union.

The new duds are designed to be more comfortable and durable and is designed with additional safety options in mind including ones that will reduce the potential for back injuries. The uniforms are also less expensive than the department’s old uniforms and they come from a local vendor, Horowitz Vendors out of West Haven.
