UNH swears in first female police chief

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — University of New Haven swears in its first female police chief.

Tracy L. Mooney took the position effective Wednesday, June 1.

Mooney is the former deputy chief of police in Milford.

She received a master’s degree in criminal justice from UNH in 2008.

“Chief Mooney has deep ties to West Haven and the university and has a strong understanding of the needs of our students, faculty and staff,” said Ronald Quagliani, associate vice president for public safety and administrative services.

Mooney is replacing former chief, Mark DeLieto, who has retired.
