NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Brie Larson was one of the top breakout actresses of 2015, and now her career is continuing to climb. Variety Reports that the Oscar-winning “Room” star is the front-runner to play Carol Danvers, A.K.A. “Captain Marvel.” The stand-alone movie about an Air Force pilot who emerges from an accident with superpowers isn’t due out until 2019, but with an actress in place, Marvel could introduce the character in an earlier film. That’s what they did in “Captain America: Civil War” with Spider-Man, whose reboot solo flick is scheduled for next summer, and Black Panther, whose stand-alone movie is set for 2018.
Madonna is off the hook for copyright infringement. According to the L.A. Times, an appeals court has ruled in her favor after she was accused of using a horn segment from another song in her ‘90s hit “Vogue.” The court said the snippet lasted less than a second, and a general audience wouldn’t have recognized it.
Who’s number one? Rolling Stone says three different artists are claiming to have the most popular album, and they’re all right, sort of. Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” has the best global digital sales and is tops on iTunes in more than 70 countries, including the U.S. Blake Shelton’s “If I’m Honest” leads physical album sales, not just on the country chart, but across all genres. But add it all up — physical, digital, and on-demand streams — and Drake remains the king, with views topping the Billboard 200 Chart for the fourth straight week.
