Orange Street Prepares For Cornhole Tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn (WTNH) – Orange Street in New Haven is going to be closed for the first time this year to make way for a day of fun and games including an annual Cornhole Tournament.

On9, a program that strives to create events and spark vitality for the businesses in New Haven’s Historic 9th Square neighborhood, is putting together the event for Friday June 3rd from 6 to 8 PM.

The centerpiece of Game On9 is 9th Square’s 4th Annual Cornhole Tournament happening on Orange Street. 32 teams will be able to participate in the Tournament, competing for the grand prize of having their names engraved on a 20″ trophy cup and crowned New Haven’s “On9 Cornhole Champions.”

In addition to the cornhole tournament there are a variety of other games and events, including the ribbon cutting of New Haven’s new Barcade location. There are also 3 art exhibits and 2 cash bars on Orange St.

“Summer is here and Game On9 is just one of the exciting events happening downtown this season. We’ve added more games to our exciting lineup. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Join us for some friendly competition and much more this Friday in the 9th Square,” said Win Davis, Executive Director of Town Green

DJ Greg will provide music at the event and Town Green District will provide bistro tables and chairs for viewing and relaxing. In case of inclement weather, updates will be posted on On9 New Haven’s website (www.on9newhaven.com) and social media pages. (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: @on9newhaven)
