NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — A 21-year-old New London man has been arrested for a 2015 murder, police say.
On Friday afternoon, New London police were near Spring Street when they say they saw 21-year-old Shaquan Seales acting suspiciously. Police say Seales quickly went behind a house and then returned back to them. When police went to the back of the house to see what Seales had done, they say they found a loaded handgun.
Police say the gun was stolen from another town. Seales was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and tampering with evidence. He was issued a $200,000 bond.
Later Friday afternoon, police say they served an active arrest warrant on Seales for the December 2015 murder of Gilberto Olivencia.
Seales is charged with murder, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and robbery. He is being held on two court set bonds of $2 million cash only and $50,000 cash or surety.
