ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — Ansonia Police have made an arrest in a case involving an anonymous threat that led to Ansonia Schools canceling class last month.

19-year-old GianCarlos Diaz faces threatening and breach of peace charges after police say he made an anonymous threat on an app that led to a ‘lock-in’ of all district students on May 23, and a cancellation of Ansonia schools the next day.

Police say Diaz posted the threatening message on the “After School App” and that the threat may have been directed at Ansonia High School students. Ansonia Police tell News 8 that Diaz is a senior at Ansonia High School.

Diaz was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond. He is due in court on June 17.
