CTDOT: Rte 8 bridge projects in Bridgeport will bring 2 week period of heavy delays

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that drivers can expect heavier than normal delays on the City of Bridgeport’s Route 8 corridor for two weeks beginning June 11 due to reconstruction projects to the Lindley St and Capital Ave bridges.

According to the CTDOT, work on the bridge replacements will run from Saturday June 11 to Saturday June 25. Route 8 will be reduced to two lanes southbound and three lanes northbound between interchanges 3 and 5. The on-ramp from Chopsey Hill Road to Route 8 southbound will be closed and detoured for the duration of the 14 day period.

CTDOT will hold a press conference on June 9 at the DOT conference room in Bridgeport on Lindley St starting at 10 a.m. to further explain details on the projects.
