I-95 shut down early Monday morning due to accident

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – A portion of Interstate 95 was shut down early Monday morning due to a car accident.

According to the Westport Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to an accident on I-95 between exits 18 and 19 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Fairfield firefighters also responded to the two-car crash involving an SUV and a flatbed tow truck.

According to the Westport Fire Department, the SUV sustained heavy damage.

Firefighters treated both drivers for injuries until EMS arrived.

All three travel lanes were shut down for a period of time.

The accident was cleared shortly after 3:00 a.m.
