New Solar Energy Program Available for All Hartford Homeowners

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Mayor Luke Bronin announced a new and innovative program, Solar for All that offers solar power and energy efficiency measures to all Hartford homeowners, which is financed through a public-private partnership between PosiGen Solar Solutions and the Connecticut Green Bank.

“We’re thrilled that more families in Hartford will have access to solar energy,” said Mayor Bronin. “Posigen has done tremendous work in other communities. Bringing this program to Hartford gives families in our city the chance to do the right thing for the environment, the right thing for household budgets, and it puts Hartford at the forefront of smart, creative, clean energy financing.”

The Solar for All financing program combines a solar lease with energy efficiency upgrades to lower the energy burden of the participating households.

“We’re changing the misconception that solar is for the rich,” states Beth Galante, Vice President of Business Development and Government Relations for PosiGen.

In announcing this new program, Mayor Bronin was joined by State Representative Matt Ritter; Bryan Garcia, President and CEO of the Connecticut Green Bank; T.J. Clarke, President of the Hartford Common Council; and Beth Galante, Vice President of Business Development and Government Relations for PosiGen Solar Solutions to make this program possible.

PosiGen, a New Orleans solar company with a footprint in Hartford, aims to close as what many see as a clean energy affordability gap by making solar energy available to all homeowners regardless of income.

“Low-to-moderate income families are most susceptible to rising energy costs, and this program puts those homeowners in control of their energy costs,” Mayor Bronin explained.

Solar For All is the only solar energy program with no minimum credit score or minimum income requirement. PosiGen’s lease program covers the full cost of installing, maintaining and insuring the solar system, as well as provides energy efficiency upgrades. The Connecticut Green Bank is happy to provide the financial support for the program.

“The partnership we have with PosiGen gives limited income households the opportunity to lower their energy costs through financing,” states Bryan Garcia, President and CEO of the Connecticut Green Bank. “Not only does Solar For All give more residents access to affordable, clean energy, it is also helping to create healthier homes and communities across the state.”

Applications for the Solar For All program are being taken now, so homeowners are encouraged to contact PosiGen today at 203-416-6518 or 1-866-PosiGen.
