MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — Two teens were taken to the hospital after crashing a stolen car in Manchester overnight.

Around 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Manchester police were conducting DUI patrols near Main Street when they saw a vehicle driving recklessly. The officer suspected the driver to be under the influence. When the officer approached the car, it sped off, eventually turning onto Branford Street where the driver lost control, collided with a utility pole, spun, collided with another utility pole, and then rolled over.

The male driver and female passenger, neither of who police say were wearing seatbelts, were initially trapped in the car. Officers had to break the rear window to get them out. Both were taken to Hartford Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say their initial investigation showed the driver is a 14-year-old and unlicensed and the female passenger is 16. Their identities are not being released due to their ages.

Officers also discovered the car involved in the crash was stolen out of Hartford earlier that night and there is an active arrest warrant for the driver for robbery.

No charges have been filed at this time as police are still investigating.
