Landlord gets 14 years for setting apartment building ablaze

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Stamford landlord convicted of setting his apartment building on fire in 2014 is headed to prison.

The Stamford Advocate reports 34-year-old Anthony Manousos of Norwalk was sentenced Tuesday to 14 years behind bars. The judge said he would consider a shorter term if prosecutors agree to allow the defendant to make restitution.

Manousos was convicted in February of first-degree arson for setting his property on fire while a tenant slept in one of the apartments on Dec. 3, 2014.

The tenant who was in the building said in court that her family lost everything after the fire.

Manousos’ attorney says there are several letters of support for his client and that he had no criminal record before the fire.

Manousos apologized in court.
