NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — In the early hours of Monday, New haven Police officers were sent to Orchard and George Streets for a reported robbery. When they arrived on scene around 1 a.m., a 30-year-old victim told police he had been assaulted and robbed at gunpoint.
The victim said he was returning home from the nearby Walgreens when a gold and silver colored four-door Honda Civic stopped at the corner. He said four black men got out. Three had dark complexions and the fourth had a lighter complexion. He guessed all were in their late teens to early twenties. They all stood about 6 feet and wore dark colored clothing.
The lighter complexioned man was armed with a black handgun. He pointed it at the victim, police say. Victim stated he then raised his arms. One of the robbers punched him at the side of his face causing him to fall. The men went through his pockets and took three hundred and twenty dollars and yanked his six hundred dollar platinum chain from his neck.
The suspects fled in the Honda. The victim said he remembers seeing the same car several times before in the neighborhood.
New Haven Police continue to investigate the case.
