MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Golf can be an expensive hobby but if that’s what dad wants for Father’s Day, we are helping you stretch your dollar so you can get him what he’s looking for. For years golf has been a favorite activity for dads, although avid players will tell you tee time has gotten expensive.
“In the early 50s, nine holes of golf costs 50 cents,” said Meriden’s Bill Bradley.
What hasn’t changed: Their love for the game.
“It’s worth it, golf is a game you can go out and forget your troubles,” Bradley added.
It’s what dads want and Jason Beffert, the General Manager of Lyman Orchards Golf Club says this father’s day is a good year in particular to stretch your dollar.
“In honor of the 275th anniversary of the farm, we’re giving 27.5 percent off our golf center season passes and our player development program,” he said.
If you just want to buy one or two rounds for dad, it’s cheaper if you pick a tee time later in the day or during the week.
It’s not just time at the links that’s the most expensive part, in some cases, it’s the equipment that can really drive up the cost but experts say there is a way to get what you need without paying top dollar. Beffert says their prices are competitive but if you opt to buy your gear second-hand somewhere else they’ll help make sure you got when you really need.
“We can make sure you have the right equipment for your game, so you’re not overspending on something that’s not going to make you any better,” he said.
It doesn’t have to be a gift just for dad. Deals are available online and they encourage everyone in the family to get involved.
