MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Everything is back to normal at the Westfield Meriden Mall Friday morning, after reports of an active shooter in the mall Thursday night caused a panic.
Meriden police tell News 8 they received a call from a woman who said there may have been shots fired at the mall. It turned out to be a combination of a loud bang and a power outage within the building, but not before moments of mass confusion.

Police conducted a thorough search of the mall and the grounds, but did not find anything.
Meriden Mayor Kevin Scarpati spoke with News 8 and said he understands why people could be on edge given the deadly nightclub massacre in Orlando just days ago.
