St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in Milford Closed

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – After 50 years of educating children, St. Gabriel’s school closed it’s doors in Milford today. The parish, as part of the Hartford Archdiocese, had to close the elementary school because of fiscal deficits and poor enrollment.

The community came out to say goodbye today. And it wasn’t just students and parents upset about the closing, but alumni came out too to say goodbye. Terri Dicocco is an alumni of St. Gabriel’s school and tells News 8 it’s a sad day. “I was the first graduate, in the first graduating class in 1970. Years later my brother went, my sister went, my nieces and nephews all went to this school.”

Generations of families came to say goodbye. Parents now have to find other schools for their kids.
