NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A New Haven man is pretty lucky, that all he needs is a new pair of shoes. On Tuesday night around 10:19, police and EMTs were called to a home on Market Street in New Haven for a shooting. When they got there they found the victim, 20 year old Bryan Gonzalez. He told police he had been outside when a man in a hooded sweatshirt walked up and pointed a gun at him. Gonzalez says he tried to wrestle the gun out of the man’s hands and it went off. The bullet went through his boot, but missed his foot.
When the shooter took off, Gonzalez says he saw a white Toyota Corolla take off. He says his ex-girlfriend drives a white Toyota Corolla, and he has been in an on-going dispute with her brother. When police went to the ex-girlfriend’s house, she said her brother had her car, but she didn’t know where he was. Police found the brother and he said he was at home during the incident. Gonzalez admits he did not see the face of the shooter, and didn’t see him get into the car.
Police say the investigation is still underway.
