PD: Man arrested after throwing cocaine out car window

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A man is facing drug charges after police say he tried to dispose of cocaine when officers attempted to pull him over.

Middletown Police attempted to stop a vehicle without a front license plate along West Lake Drive on Tuesday. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Martin Staple threw a bag of cocaine out the window and continued to drive approximately 200 feet before pulling over, according to police.

Detectives tell News 8 that they discovered marijuana inside the vehicle as well as a prescription bottle that contained 21 Percocet tablets.

Staple has been charged with possession with intent to sell, interfering with an officer, possession of narcotics, tampering with evidence, and possession of a controlled substance.

He posted bond and is due in court on July 12.
