HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hamden man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a gun during an argument.
Police say 61-year-old Brett Smith got into an argument Sunday night with a woman he lives with on State Street. They say he pointed a rifle at the woman and her 26-year-old son, but didn’t shoot at them. Officials say he fired two shots; one hit a car; the other was fired into the air.
According to authorities, Smith locked himself in a bathroom, but negotiators were able to get him to come out.
Smith is charged with two counts of second-degree threatening, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and two counts of breach of peace.
