Case continued for owner of dogs in deadly New Haven attack

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Yale medical psychiatry resident, whose dogs attacked and brutally mauled a New Haven woman to death, was due to appear in court Friday, but the case has been continued.

Hamilton Hicks is charged with possession of narcotics after police say they found three bags of crack cocaine. According to New Haven police, Hicks will not face charges in connection to the dog attack.

Jocelyn Winfrey, 53, of New Haven, passed away from her injuries on Monday.

The dogs are scheduled to be euthanized next week.

Judicial officers spoke with News 8 and informed us that Hicks’ case has been continued to July 15th.
