NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) It’s the first full week of July and the new month means new steals and deals.

If you have kids who like video games July 8th is video game day so you may be able to find discounted games throughout the month.  says some of the best things to buy this month include air conditioners and swimwear because stores are looking to unload inventory before the end of the season. They suggest checking Target and Newegg about air conditioners if you’re in the market for those.

You should also expect to find deals on anything that is amazon-branded. That’s because ‘Amazon Prime Day’ is coming up on the 12th.

Now what not to buy. Dealnews says hold off on certain items that may be considered “back-to-school” – like laptops.  There are likely going to be better deals in August. Grills will also be better in August.

And TVs remain an item you should avoid because deals are scarce in the summer with no exception.

If you are a member of the military, keep in mind a lot of deals are out there for you throughout the month of July in celebration of fourth of July. For example you can get into Mystic Aquarium for free throughout the month.
