Crews tackle overnight fire at Plainville business

PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — Plainville firefighters battled a fully involved fire at a business on South Canal Street overnight on Tuesday.

The Plainville Fire Department was dispatched around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday night to 41 South Canal Street, after being alerted by an automated fire alarm. Dispatchers say that the one-story business was empty on arrival, but was fully involved.

The fire was under control within 90 minutes, say dispatchers. Farmington firefighters were called in for mutual aid during this time, to help cover phones back at the station. There were no road closures at any point.

One engine stayed on scene through the early morning, monitoring for hot spots, while the fire marshal investigated.
