HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A man in Hartford was sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison, after being pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine base, or crack.
Police say, 39-year-old Jose Gonzalez, nicknamed “Jo Jo,” of Hartford, has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1997 and includes multiple convictions for multiple crimes. Now, Gonzalez will serve an 87-month prison sentence, followed by five years of supervised release.
Gonzalez was arrested in December 2015, and has been detained ever since.
Gonzalez’s first conviction came in 1997, when he was sentenced to 11 years for committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering. The conviction, police say, was connected to a murder Gonzalez committed in a gang-ordered drive-by shooting when Gonzalez was a 16-year-old soldier for the Los Solidos gang.
