24-year-old killed in Columbia crash

COLUMBIA, Conn. (WTNH) — A 24-year-old woman was killed on Sunday afternoon after striking a tree while driving on Route 6 in Columbia.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, troopers, firefighters, and EMTs were dispatched to Route 6 in Columbia on a report of a car crash.

Police say they were able to determine that 24-year-old Jenifer Milhomme was traveling westbound when she veered slightly right, hitting a mailbox and metal beam guardrail. She then traveled across the highway, striking a tree on the eastbound shoulder.

Milhomme was evaluated by paramedics, but she was determined to be deceased.

The accident is still under investigation, and anyone with any relevant information is asked to contact Trooper Dowling with Connecticut State Police (K), at (860) 465-5400.
