MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – A bunch of kids are shaken up tonight after they and two adults had to be rescued from the sound.

It happened this afternoon near Silver Sands state park in Milford.  Eight kids and two adults walked out to Charles Island on a sandbar that appears during low tide.

But they were quickly overwhelmed when they tried to make it back to shore.  Milford firefighters were able to get everyone back to shore safely.  No one was hurt.
