New Haven police arrest man with gun and bags full of pot

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A call about an argument between two women at a store, wound up with an arrest of a man who police say had an illegal gun and two sandwich bags full of pot.  Police got a all just after 3:30 Sunday morning about an argument between two women at Pop’s Grocery store on Grand Avenue.

Police ended the argument and asked people who gathered to leave.  A man standing outside asked one of the officers if the store sold a certain item. The officers told the man he should have asked when he was in the store.

As officers talked to Mohid Uddin, 20, they noticed the outline of a concealed pistol, and the strong smell of marijuana.

Police asked the man if he had a gun.  He said yes.  They asked him with a permit. He said no.

Police say Uddin had a loaded .32 caliber pistol and two sandwich bags full of pot. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and several drug crimes.
