Ansonia police search for hit and run driver

Ansonia Police are looking for the driver of this dark-colored Honda CRV, in connection with Wednesday's hit and run.

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — Ansonia Police continue to search for the driver who took off after hitting a woman Wednesday morning.

Just after 7:30 a.m., officers responded to Wakelee Avenue near Jackson Street, where authorities say a woman was lying on the ground, being tended to by a passerby. The woman had a head injury and was complaining of hip pain.

Emergency crews transported her to St. Vincent’s hospital in Bridgeport. As of Wednesday evening, she is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The victim was unable to provide much information to police, but said she had just gotten out of her parked car when she was struck by the car. According to witnesses, the vehicle is described as a small dark-colored SUV, pictured in the surveillance image below.

After hitting the woman, the SUV took off and drove south on Wakelee Avenue, police said.
