Officials confirm underground fire in Torrington

TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– Torrington Police confirm an underground explosion early Wednesday morning.

Just after 3:00 a.m., Torrington Police received a call and were dispatched following reports of someone driving by stating that they saw smoke coming out of a man-hole cover.

News 8 spoke with Eversource that confirmed a faulted cable caused a fire underground between Mason and Water St. on Main Street.
