NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say they have arrested a man in connection with the gunfire on Kensington Street on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, 24-year-old Jaray Turner was shot in the leg. Police say 29-year-old Ibrahim Shareef of New Haven was arrested on Thursday. Shareef, who police say is a convicted felon, had a gun at this home when he was arrested.

Police say Turner has been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s gunfire, but “not specifically with the assault” of Turner.

Shareef is charged with criminal possession of a pistol, unlawful discharge of a firearm and illegally carrying a pistol without a permit.

Police are still investigating this case to see if it may be connected to the July 23 murder of Daryl Wayne Belton, which also happened on Kensington Street.
