VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Vernon bank closed Thursday after some white powder was found on cash from a customer, police say. It was later determined the powder was concrete dust.
Police and firefighters were called to the Bank of America at 243 Hartford Turnpike just after noon on Thursday. Police say a small trace amount of white powder was found on some cash that bank employees had already been sealed inside a plastic bag.
The branch was closed while officials tried to figure out what the powder was. Police say they contacted the person who deposited the cash and determined the powder was concrete dust. The bank then reopened.
