MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Yorka McKnight smashed in the windows of her boyfriend’s car on Tuesday afternoon, after police say she spotted a “like” on his Facebook page from a former flame of his.

Middletown police responded to 69 Ridge Road for a domestic dispute, to find the victim beside his battered truck. The report states that the windshield was “smashed in multiple places,” the driver’s window was smashed out, and the driver’s side was scratched “all the way down.”

The victim explained to police that his girlfriend, 27-year-old Yorka Geneava McKnight, had noticed that one of the comments on his Facebook “wall” wishing him a happy birthday that day was “liked” by a woman he had previously cheated on McKnight with. The argument escalated, at which point McKnight took a hammer out of the victim’s toolbox and, police say, “began assaulting the truck.”

Police explain that the two, together for 13 years, had moved into the Ridge Road home a week prior. Their 9-year-old daughter was not present at the time of the confrontation. Police also explain, “At the behest of Ms. McKnight, the victim removed all of his belongings and will be residing with parents.”

McKnight was charged with criminal mischief and breach of peace, and was released on-scene.
