(WTNH) – There is an importance that comes with locally grown food that make great produce possible in Texas.
News 8’s Keith Kountz spoke with Gina Sugarek and Nicole Spurlock about their farms and what it is like to keep a family farm running.
Gina Sugarek and Nicole Spurlock can’t speak enough on the behalf on how vital their family farms are.
“My husband is a sixth generation farmer and we farm more acres than his grandfather did, but it’s still a family operation where my husband and I sit down at the dinner table to make the executive decisions on what we are going to plant,” explains Gina.
The two women also make it clear that there is an appeal to farming for themselves and their families.
“Well it’s so exciting because we are supplying America and the world with food so it’s pretty amazing and a big responsibility, which we don’t take lightly. We also don’t take it lightly that we are doing everything we can do conserve our land to pass down,” said Nicole.
Both women see the importance of being able to pass down their farms in Texas to their children.
