Oxford fire under investigation

Oxford, Conn. (WTNH)- Oxford firefighters were able to rescue three cats and a dog from a burning house on Hawley Road on Wednesday morning. No people were at home at the time of the fire. When firefighter got to the scene they encountered heavy flames in the front of the building extending up into the second floor.

Tankers had to be brought in to help douse the blaze. Oxford firefighters received help from departments in Seymour, Beacon Falls, Southbury, Stevens and Middlebury.

It took about 45 minutes for firefighters to put out the blaze, but as a result the house has been deemed uninhabitable.
