Police reminding drivers of breakdown lane dangers after crash

EAST WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — East Windsor police are reminding drivers of dangers in the breakdown lane.

Police say a pickup truck driver pulled in to the breakdown lane on Route 5 Tuesday to talk on his cell phone. They say a tractor-trailer lost control and crashed in to the back of the pickup, pushing it in to a utility pole. No one was seriously hurt.

Police say pulling in to the breakdown lane to use the phone was the right thing to do, and the tractor-trailer driver was at fault. However, they recommend pulling in to a parking lot if possible.
