(WTNH) — A local food bank is seeing a rise in the need for food assistance from veterans.
The Connecticut Food Bank is working with the Veterans Administration to provide meals for families with veterans or active military. Once a month, volunteers drop off nutritious food for our veterans. Everything from healthy snacks, fresh fruit and vegetables. Dozens of veterans have already signed up for the program.
“They pointed out they had veterans who were going hungry. they didn’t have enough resources food stamp or snap benefits aren’t enough and some of their homeless veterans are under nourished, malnourished and in really tough shape,” said Bernie Beaudreau, CEO Connecticut Food Bank.
