New Haven police investigate robbery suspect

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police are asking for help identifying a man who robbed a package store on Monday.

According to police and surveillance photos, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the man in question robbed the clerk at the Middletown Package Store at 417 Middletown Avenue.

The clerk believed the robber was armed with a handgun, which detectives believe might have been a cylindrical object like a flashlight. The man left with over $800 and three packs of Newport cigarettes.

Security footage shows the robber as a black man who stands approximately 5’08”, weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt with a “Rings End” logo on it, a red cap, dark colored pants and brown work boots. He also wore eyeglasses or safety glasses, and his hair was either braided or in dreadlocks.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man is urged to contact investigators in the department’s Robbery-Burglary Unit. They can be reached at 203-946-6304.
