NEW HAVEN, Conn (WTNH) — State and New Haven officials will discuss plans on Friday in preparation for the height of hurricane season.

U.S. Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal will join New Haven Mayor Toni Harp and Emergency Operations Center Deputy Director Rick Fontana to highlight steps that residents should take to prepare for the next storm.

Murphy and Blumenthal will specifically discuss the importance of strengthening Connecticut’s infrastructure and coastal recovery in wake of storms like Superstorm Sandy.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration expects this year’s hurricane season to be the most active since 2012. The peak of the season will last from mid-August through October.

A press conference to discuss the state’s plans will be held on Friday morning at the New Haven Office of Emergency Management.
