WESPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Westport police have arrested a woman in connection with a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the woman hitting a telephone pole.
Police say the driver, Stephanie Wiedman had driven into a telephone in the area of 297 Greens Farms Road. Wiedman’s white Toyota had heavy damage to the front and end of the vehicle.
Officers could smell alcohol on Wiedman’s breath and say that her eyes were red and glassy. Wiedman began arguing and swearing at officer Ashley DelVecchio. DelVecchi submitted a search warrant for the alcohol content level in Weidman’s blood.
The State of Connecticut Toxicology lab reports that Wiedman’s blood ethanol value was .21, which is nearly three times the legal limit.
A warrant was issued for her arrest and Wiedman turned herself in at police headquarters Wednesday.
