PD: man found shot in New London parking lot

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)– New London police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital Saturday night.

Police say they responded to the parking lot of 158 Hawthorne Drive just before 9 p.m. after receiving a 911 call that a man had been shot.

Officers then found 29-year-old Jerimy Escalera, of New London, bleeding in that parking lot with a possible gunshot wound to his side. He was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital before being taken by Life Star to Yale New Haven Hospital for emergency surgery.

There is no word on any suspects at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Police ask anyone with information to contact them at 860-447-1481.
