ELLINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)- An Ellington woman is going to jail for two months because she gambled at Foxwoods, which violated her supervised release after serving time for a federal conviction.
51-year-old Patricia Baddeley Meehan was sentenced to two months behind bars and another two years of supervised release. Court documents show Meehan was convicted back in 2010 for stealing $1,716,128 from the law firm where she worked. Documents show Meehan was sentenced to 46 months in jail, followed by three years of supervised release. As a condition of her release, Meehan was not allowed to gamble or go into an establishment that promotes gambling.
An investigation shows Meehan disobeyed that condition at least 23 times, by gambling at Foxwoods Resort Casino, and winning at least $51,862. But, the investigation shows Meehan only paid back $8,021 of the more than $1.7 million she owes in restitution from her original charge.
So, Meehan was sentenced to another two months behind bars, with another two years of supervised release. Meehan has to report to prison on September 28.
