Connecticut woman killed in multivehicle crash in New Jersey

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey state police have released the name of a Connecticut woman killed in a multi-vehicle accident on an interstate highway.

Ekaterina Cherynkh, a 27-year-old Bridgeport resident, was pronounced dead at the scene of Sunday’s crash in Clinton Township. A 31-year-old Matawan man who was in the same vehicle with her was seriously injured.

State police say the accident on I-78 began when an eastbound Land Rover went off the left side of the road and into a wooden embankment before going airborne and striking two westbound vehicles.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
