Boat collides with kayakers on the Hudson river

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH)- A collision between a ferry boat and eleven kayakers in the Hudson River has sent several people to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The Coast Guard received a call for a crew member on the ferry Jersey City reporting the boat and those eleven kayakers collided near Pier 79 in Manhattan.

The Coast Guard was quick to the scene and rescued the kayakers from the water. Five of the kayakers were taken to hospital, two of them are listed in critical condition. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
