Life Star responds to head-on crash in Meriden

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Life Star has responded to a crash that closed a road in Meriden Wednesday morning.

Police say the two car head-on accident happened in the area of 540 Oregon Road around 9:30 a.m.

Witnesses say a car was behind a vehicle that had stopped to turn into a parking area. The car then swerved and collided with a SUV head on.

There is no word on the extent of the injuries but the Life Star medical helicopter was called to the scene. One victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and another victim was taken to Hartford Hospital.

Rescue crews on scene say that a man in one of the vehicles was conscious, but reported having no feeling in the lower part of his body.

Oregon Road is closed at this time for the investigation.

Police have not released any further details.
