NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven Mayor Toni Harp wants more people who live in the elm city to put down their car keys.

This year’s car free challenge kicks off Wednesday, August 31.

It works like this, you get points and rewards for walking, biking or car-pooling to work or school.

Then people can use the points to get gift cards and other items.

You can sign up for the program in front of city hall at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
