ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — Just as we get close to the peak of hurricane season, dozens of emergency officials got together Wednesday morning to make plans to deal with the winter ahead.
The event was put together by United Illuminating. It brought together top fire, police, and public works officials from the 17 towns served by U.I.
The power company says it has three main objectives. First, to make sure the power system is resilient during storms, and secondly, to work and towns during storms.
“And then lastly to communicate with customers during events so they can better plan their lives during such events as we bring the system back on,” said Anthony Marone, Senior Vice President of United Illuminating.
Helping all those experts plan for storms was our very own storm expert, Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons told the group his forecast for the tropical storms, and the snowstorms that are, hopefully, still many months away.
